UCEF, a registered non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization, works to improve the state of the environment in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Newly Independent States (NIS), by providing support to environmental organizations based in CEE and NIS, educating the American public on the state of the environment in CEE and NIS, and promoting exchanges between students and professionals in America and CEE and NIS.

works with the following CEE countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland,
Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Yugoslavia; and with the following
NIS countries: The Caucasus, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine.
